Nursery Changing Table Checklist: 10 Must-Haves-b.bear

Are You Prepared?

Your nursery will be a haven for your baby to not only sleep, but to play, get dressed, and have their diaper changed. Many moms love to set up a station that puts all essential diapering items in arm’s reach. If you’re starting to set up your changing table, read on to make sure it has all the items your baby will need!

1. Diapers

Drawers are simple and effective way to keep your change table organized.

Your diaper table should have all the diapers your baby needs out of their box, organized by size. This helps you keep a visual on when you are running low, allows you to grab one easily, and makes sure you’re ready when your baby goes up a diaper size.

Don’t forget to place overnight diapers on or in your table as well, to keep your baby nice and dry before bed.

2. Wipes

Wipes will be your best friend and used for everything from diaper changes to quick mess cleanups. That’s why many moms opt to buy in bulk—that way they always have them on hand.

“Do I Need A Wipe Warmer?”

Some moms prefer to use a wipe warmer to add comfort for overnight diaper changes, but it’s really up to you. While many don’t deem it necessary, it’s a nice little luxury for baby's bottom, and it’s easy to plug in if your changing table is placed near an outlet.

3. Diaper Pail

A diaper pail doesn't have to be an eyesore. Check out these beauties by Ubbi!

Invest in a high-quality diaper pail that sits next to your changing station. Be sure it is lined with a special bag, it has a large enough capacity, and it contains the smell! Something that has a pedal, which you can step on to open it, is always ideal so you can go hands-free.

4. Extra Diaper Pail Liners

Using cloth diapers? Sunshine Pigtails makes washable and reusable bin liners in a rainbow of colors.

Your table should house a few extra diaper pail liners so you always have them on hand!

5. Lotions & Potions

Lotions and potions are a must at a changing table. You can set up a caddy filled with diaper cream, powder, lotion, and essential oils that can be applied at a moment’s notice.

6. Plastic Bags

Trying to avoid plastic? Try using small compost bags instead. It's not a perfect solution, but every bit counts!

A few plastic bags can be stored in a drawer that is out of reach of your child. This allows you to safely and quickly put heavily soiled items in them.

7. Laundry Basket

A laundry basket should be sitting to the side of your changing table. It should allow you to easily toss dirty clothes inside during and after diaper changes.

8. Grooming Kit

This cute baby grooming kit is made by ARRNEW.

Grooming kits are also ideal to have on hand so you can trim your baby’s nails, clean out their boogies with a bulb, and brush their wisps of hair.

9. Toys & Teethers

If you have a wiggly baby, you should have a couple of toys and teethers on your tabletop to keep them engaged and happy.

10. Changing Pad & Covers

This chic safari nursery features the rope changing pad cover from b.bear.

A changing pad with a soft cover will keep your little one cozy and comfy during diaper changes. You can even have a soft, muslin blanket nearby to keep them warm and to give them something to play with (peek-a-boo anyone?).
